When Teachers Unintentionally Make You Feel Like Poop.

I have found that the most frequent source of my anxiety at school comes from other teachers. Today a classroom aid said "Students A and B don't have the skills to complete this simple math problem... they can't even skip count by 10."

Of course my anxiety immediately told me these things:

1. This is all your fault

2. You are a horrible teacher

3. You failed to teach skip counting? Really!????

4. You are setting them up for failure

5. You are a horrible teacher

6. You suck at math!!!

7. No one will ever hire you

8. This colleuge hates you now and thinks you're stupid and wants you to get fired.

Now, someone without mental illness would have maybe had only one of those thoughts, or none! A rational person may have thought "I'll make sure to go over skip counting again and pull those students aside for extra practice." Instead my world has ended and my heart is beating like a maniac and I would rather lay in a ditch than stay at school.

Of course I need to try and remember that these are 2 students out of my 23. But that's just too much of a rational thing to do.
